SAT Preparation Course Overview

Introduction to the SAT Exam (USA)

Before discussing the SAT Preparation Course at Elite Lingo, let’s first take a closer look at the SAT exam itself.

The SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) is an undergraduate-level examination established by the College Board and currently administered by the Educational Testing Service (ETS). The SAT serves as an entrance exam for universities in the United States as well as many prestigious institutions in Canada, France, Norway, Australia, Turkey, Singapore, Malaysia, and India. In summary, success in the SAT opens the door to more than 80 leading universities across over 10 countries. The exam is used for admission to both medical and dental programs as well as engineering fields.

The SAT consists of two main types:

  • SAT General Test: Designed to assess students’ writing, verbal, and mathematical abilities.

  • SAT Subject Tests: Optional tests for applicants who wish to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding in specific subjects such as Mathematics, Literature, Foreign Languages, History, and various Science disciplines.

For admission to most top universities, a high score in the SAT General Test is required. The general SAT consists of 154 questions in total 96 questions cover English writing, grammar, and reading comprehension, and 58 questions assess algebra, functions, geometry, probability, and data analysis. The total test duration is 180 minutes, and scores range from 400 to 1600.

To be accepted into prestigious medical and dental programs, applicants typically need a score above 1500.
